Eons ago the glaciers of the last great ice age scoured the topsoil down to bedrock. The depressions in the granite stone bedrock provide the greatest conditions for solid lakes, deep and crisp with clear deep waters. It’s as if the Canadian Shield has been there forever and will stay forever in the same majestic conditions. The forests hide the secrets of the waterways – rivers and lakes. Follow the lead of the Hayes, Knife and Gods river systems to find your choice of river or lake based fishing.
The very east shore of Lake Winnipeg is further interrupted by the Poplar Berens. Bloodvein and Pigeon river systems, all following down the lake, all more than plentiful with fish, fish and more king fish. Challenge the ever majestic lake trout, of giant sizes, the hunter – the predatory pike – able to lunge out your lure in less than a flash of a second. In addition you can also fish for the giant sturgeon fish or tangle with trophy master angler sized brook trout.
In the southern areas of this region of Manitoba’s north a simple fly- in trip can easily be arranged. This can easily be done either from one of the many rural centers with airports or directly from Winnipeg city. It’s your choice and your time.
